At our event we made Valentines cards and decorated jars for Valentine gifts and filled them with sweets. This was followed by afternoon tea, including delicious cup cakes, ginger sponge and heart shaped scones baked with recipes from Joan Walker’s old 1950’s Bero baking recipe book. We were three generations, Val McCowen, Sarah Hughes and Fiona Whitfield, Kenny age 10, Joseph age 5, Alice age 2. Our fourth generation, Grannie Gudde McCowen aged 96, wasn’t feeling quite upto joining us on the day, but came for tea on Sunday.
